Qualified Mediator and Expert in Communications
Dedicated to Helping People and Organizations Solve Issues Through Mediation, Conflict Resolution and Communication

Ginger Plumbo, M.A.
Bio:
Ginger Plumbo is a qualified neutral on the Minnesota Judicial Branch Rule 114 roster and a trained mediator with over 100 hours of specialized education and practical experience in civil and family mediation. She brings to her mediation practice more than two decades of high‑stakes communication, conflict navigation, and stakeholder engagement experience across healthcare, nonprofit, and corporate environments.
Ginger is known for her calm presence, empathic listening, and ability to create a psychologically safe environment where people feel heard, respected, and supported. Her approach is grounded in dignity, neutrality, and compassion — qualities consistently reflected in a recent Leadership Academy, where colleagues described her as “an outstanding leader…humble and compassionate,” “a great listener,” and someone who “establishes a safe environment that enables others to speak up.”
Throughout her career, Ginger has facilitated difficult conversations, guided individuals and teams through emotionally charged situations, and helped diverse stakeholders find clarity, alignment, and forward momentum. Her background includes extensive work in issues management, crisis communication, patient and family support, and collaborative problem‑solving — skills that translate seamlessly into mediation.
As a mediator, Ginger helps parties explore their needs, understand one another’s perspectives, and work toward solutions that feel fair, sustainable, and self‑determined. She is committed to the principle that people are the experts in their own lives and that mediation offers a respectful, empowering path toward resolution.
On a personal level, she's experienced divorce and post-divorce conflict, elder care and caregiver management issues, workplace tensions, and parenting strong-willed teenagers — these and other life experiences give her empathy for all sides of the issues.
Ginger’s career includes leadership roles in healthcare and nonprofit organizations including Mayo Clinic and Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, where she led strategic initiatives in communications, stakeholder engagement, and organizational reputation management. She has built systems for issue identification and response, strengthened stakeholder relations, and elevated mission-aligned narratives that drive community impact.
As an independent consultant, Ginger continues to advise health systems and nonprofits on strategic communications, crisis management, and stakeholder alignment. She is passionate about mission-driven opportunities that support people and communities, and foster inclusive, high-performing cultures.
Ginger holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communications from North Dakota State University, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of North Dakota, and an academic rank as an Instructor of Healthcare Administration at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
She lives in Rochester, Minnesota with her two daughters and the family pets.
